As usual, we were dancing in the grand hall when suddenly I felt a sharp jolt. It felt as if we were a train pulling into a station. Whilst most continued to dance, I noticed that some passengers had scurried out of the hall to investigate. My father stopped dancing and shot my mother a nervous look. “What’s wrong?” I asked. Then, silence. I knew then that this was something more serious.

A thought-provoking and authentic diary entry from a passenger on board the Titanic. Differentiated comprehension questions and awesome writing activities that DON'T just involve newspaper writing! Great for a topic lesson or a guided reading session.
